Dear Parents & Students: We hope our reed players will buy their reeds by the box. This avoids confusion at the beginning of the band period by eliminating the sale of supplies. The music dealers have agreed to offer discount prices as compared to those you pay at the store. Band members who play reed instruments are asked to keep at least two playable reeds in their case at all times. We recommend students purchase a reed holder to protect their reed when not in use and to keep their reeds in good playing condition. It is best to rotate the use of several reeds. This keeps several reeds 'broken in' and ready to use. It also prolongs the life of the reeds. Woodwind instruments should be swabbed out after each practice. The moisture from playing the instrument will soak the pads and causes them to dry out. Repeated soaking of the pads will cause them to crack and will make the instrument impossible to play. Repadding instruments costs from $100.00 to $125.00. Students should own a swab or 'padsaver'. 'Padsavers' are more expensive but students are more apt to use them because they are a quick solution to cleaning the instrument. All band members will need to purchase a lyre for their instrument. A lyre holds the music to your instrument. This will allow the student to read music while marching in the band. Each year students are offered the opportunity to purchase supplies at a fall discount price. THE PRICES LISTED ARE REDUCED FROM THE NORMAL RETAIL PRICE. Please choose the items you wish to purchase from the following list. Include your name, instrument, brand of reeds, reed strength, and the price on the form provided.
